McFarlane's long-running Spawn title will now be the flagship title in a line of multiple ongoing titles in this character's corner of the Image Comics - with its own interconnected continuity, storylines, team-ups, and more. It'll all work under the banner name of 'Spawn's Universe,' which will also be the name of the one-shot event book to kick it all off later this year.

The first wave of Spawn's Universe titles is three books: King Spawn, The Gunslinger, and The Scorched. It all begins in June with Spawn's Universe #1, followed by King Spawn beginning in August, The Gunslinger in October, and The Scorched in December.

For this ambitious undertaking, McFarlane has recruited an all-star list of talent for the series. Confirmed so far are Donny Cates, Frank Quitely, Greg Capullo, Marc Silvestri, Jim Cheung, Sean Gordon Murphy, Arthur Adams, J. Scott Campbell, Mike Del Mundo, Aleš Kot, Jason Shawn Alexander, Carlo Barberi, Brett Booth, Javier Fernandez, David Finch, Jonathan Glapion, Kevin Keane, Puppeteer Lee, Sean Lewis, Ben Oliver, Paulo Siqueira, Stephen Segovia, and Marcio Takara.

Oh la vache, ambitieux comme projet. Je sens que je vais être faible, mais faiiiible ! :D

Je lisais la liste et j'ai vu "Carlo Barberi". Je me suis frotté les yeux pour voir si j'étais bien réveillé.

Ben c'est le dessinateur actuel de la série-mère depuis quelques épisodes...

Oui, le souci étant qu'on sait d'avance qu'un Carlo Barberi dessinera 20 fois plus de trucs qu'Arthur Adams.

Développer un Univers Spawn qui dure (plus d'une série mensuelle veux-je dire :D), oui, ça me semble assez ambitieux, n'en déplaise aux ronchons. ;)
Et avec les artistes annoncés, ça me semble faire preuve d'une certaine ambition. Après, il va falloir surveiller l'évolution c'est clair, mais si le fun y est, avec des boobs, flingues et des clous, ça me va.

M'en parle pas, la tête de Mickey me donnait des cauchemars ! :D

Ca me surprend de voir Jim Cheung sur Spawn, que je "vois" plus avec des dessinateurs plus sombres.

Après, j'applaudis le courage de vouloir lancer plusieurs séries liées dans le contexte actuel.

Je crains cependant que ça ne "prenne" pas forcément autant que McFarlane l'espère. Parce que s'il vise à suivre les traces de Marvel et DC, ces éditeurs ont eu dès le début plusieurs séries avec des principes différents, des thèmes différents.

Là, le Spawn Universe est basé sur un personnage, avec certes des personnages qu'on va développer, mais liés aux mêmes idées, mêmes pouvoirs, et finalement mêmes orientations.

Ca va fonctionner, je pense, mais ça ne sera pas aussi "fou-fou" que McFarlane espère.

En tout cas ça marche sur moi. La liste d'auteurs, l'enthousiasme de McFarlane, font que j'ai été voir la sollit de Spawn pour mai qui annonce être le jumping point de l'opération Universe, ce qui a fini de me convaincre c'est que l'ongoing est encore à 2,99, si rare à notre époque.

Todd McFarlane assume lui-même la promo et donne le détail du contenu du one-shot.

je me souviens que les episodes qu'il avait refilé à d'autres scenaristes etaient vraiment chouettes ( dans les premiers numeros) mais sinon j'avoue que Spawn me laisse assez froid...

En tout cas, ça cartonne niveau précommandes!
